When we do

something for someone,

a kindness,

we may expect

that in the future

they will return the gift.

Waiting for that response

may not happen.

Instead

What seems to enlarge us

is if we

imagine that person will

pass it on,

to another who needs an outreach

in that moment.

It is a real gift from us if

we do not expect

anything
