The Power of Art

People feel like something magical has happened.

Sidewalk Sam covered sidewalks with colored chalk.

Sometimes copying things, even reproducing masterpieces,

sometimes powerful political statements.

What he did was bring people together,

even if just for a moment.

He had faith that all you had to do was

remind people of their basic goodness and

wonderful things would happen.

There was some spark in him that was

so generous of spirit.

His real art was the

magic

that can happen between strangers.

That remains,

long after the chalk has

washed away.
